Travel the route of the early explorers!

Five hundred years ago, Samuel de Champlain explored the Ottawa River in a birch bark canoe.  Up until recently, it was impossible for small crafts to navigate what is one of the great historic rivers of North America.  Now, a system of six portages allows you to travel from as far as Montreal and the St.-Lawrence Seaway or the Rideau Canal in Ottawa to the head of Lake Temiskaming in Northern Ontario.

The Ottawa River Waterway offers almost 1,300 km of magnificent scenery to enjoy and experience.

Discover the explorer in you!

The Ottawa River Waterway is again gearing up for 2009 season.
We're looking forward to see you on the river!
